things to look forward to on my upcoming, still-untitled album:
- gratuitous guitar playing
- lush harmonies
- clever lyrics
- not-so-clever-but-still decent lyrics
- clear signs of where my influences lie
- songs that will get stuck in your head
- songs that you should email to your favorite radio station on a daily basis with a request for them to play it
I was in the Laney Jazz Ensemble in 2010-11. Here’s a video of our performance. My solos are at 34:35 and at 51:15. Or watch the whole thing. Doesn’t matter to me.

If I look tired, it’s because I am.
I spent the last almost seven hours cooped up in the recording studio working on five songs, doing everything from overdubs (two songs) to arrangements (two songs) to totally starting and finishing new songs (one song).
This puts me at 11 finished songs for the new album. I’m going to flip once or twice more through the files and make sure there aren’t any songs I’ve forgotten, then I’ll move on to phase three,
kill the Batmanmix, master and package the album and send it to iTunes. This is really exciting for me because for the first time I’ll have a new album of all original songs that you guys probably haven’t heard, except one song that was on the Second Helpings EP that’ll have new vocals, as well as another song that was on Second Helpings but has been totally rearranged (think The Beatles’ “Revolution 1” vs. “Revolution”).Anyway, I should start packing things up here so I can eat something and go to bed. I’m really excited for you guys to hear this stuff, and you should be excited, too.

Very Randy-Newman-meets-a-better-singer.
I did some on-site recording at Thin Man Music today! You should definitely check them out if you’re ever in Alameda.
Recording!

Part of my ongoing attempt to impress the members of Brian Wilson’s band enough that they invite me on tour with them.
